Shortly before 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, officers from the Hammond County Police Department responded to the high school, where there was a report of a 17-year-old boy who had been stabbed by a 15-year-old girl "who was known to the victim."
The School Resource Officer assigned to the building responded immediately, according to police, and the teen victim was transported to Shock Trauma with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
His condition was not immediately available on Thursday afternoon.
The teenage stabbing suspect was taken into custody near the school by investigating officers. No charges have been announced.
The modified lockdown at Hammond High School was lifted at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, according to police.
Additional information is expected to be released by police as the investigation continues.
